Pancakes, Bacon & A Side of Murder is the perfect summertime cozy mystery. It begins when bakery-owner Aubrey finds the body of her frenemy Vicki. Since Vicki was found holding Aubrey’s secret recipe book, she’s an obvious suspect. Aubrey sets out to clear her name with the help of two close friends, though the ‘investigation’ soon extends to include a pair of YouTube celebrities. Aubrey continually butts heads with Blaze Martin, the sheriff who both attracts and annoys her, until the killer makes an attempt on Aubrey’s life and forces them to work together.
I loved the small town vibes, the shenanigans of the girlfriends, and the budding romance between Blaze and Aubrey. I will say I figured out who the killer was before the big reveal, but it was still a satisfying mystery and though there is a murder and attempted murders, it’s very non-violent and fits squarely in the cozy category. ~ Jordan Millsaps (via Instagram)
