After reading Beneath the Seams, I am emerging with the hazy afterglow of being so engrossed in the story that reentering the “real world” is practically disorienting! I really loved the authenticity and depth of all of the characters, Shelby especially. It was so captivating to follow her thinking from the early, intense fixation on the successful dress launch to discovering the intricacies of the production / supply chain process and what her dresses mean for a mother-daughter duo across the world.
Peyton does such a masterful job tying a diversity of lived experiences to the same article of clothing and reminding every consumer that our choices matter. A lot of learning about the fashion industry, things to think in future purchasing decisions and a wonderful story!
