When empty-nester Peg writes a blog post about birding on her Mama Birds blog site, people in her local area sign up for her bird-watching group. But the first meeting results in an unexpected event that quickly becomes a “who dun it” leaving Peg feeling responsible for solving the case. Even though she’s warned by Marcus, the police detective, not to become involved in the “detective work,” she can’t help but search for clues with the help of her fellow birder, Shortie, and her outlandish mother-in-law, Hazel. I enjoyed this novel for so many reasons—especially the info about birding, the humor, the pets, and the clues. I especially loved outrageous Hazel, who cracked me up, and Marcus and Shortie, whose bickering came down to alpha dog rivalry over solving the case and winning Peg. I highly recommend this book. I read an ARC, and I purchased the Kindle version for my iphone, so I can re-read it while my hubby is driving. Good, clean fun. – Debra A
