Like the other Mantle Rock authors, I write from a Christian world view. That means whether or not the Gospel is explicitly stated in the stories, God is always woven into the plot.
Because of the Christian component, I begin a writing project and writing sessions with prayer. Sometimes the prayer is as simple as, “I don’t know what to write next. Please help!” Mostly, however, I have ongoing prayer requests.
I’m sharing those requests with you today.
I pray for the following:
*to be obedient to God’s call
*to be faithful to pray before writing
*to write with God
*for God to use my stories to touch lives
*for God to get my stories to the people He wants to read them
*for wisdom concerning time management
*to write stories He gives me
*to stay in my lane, on the journey He planned for me
*to block comparisons to other writers
*to conquer fear surrounding the journey
*to write for God’s approval, not man’s
*for courage to be the writer He called me to be
*to use my knowledge, history, lessons, expertise for His glory and for better stories
*for Him to be in control of the extras—book signings, speaking opportunities, reviews
*to do all I can the best I can for no regrets later.
So, what about you? How do you pray for your writing pursuits?
