Betty writes encouraging stories for a discouraging world. Never give up on what God has planned for you. Stepping out in faith can be an amazing journey. Take one step at a time. If or when you stumble along the way, remember the Lord upholds his children with his hand. Psalm 37:23, 24
She’s a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and active in her local chapter. Her debut novel, Love’s Twisting Trail, won first place in the 2013 ACFW First Impressions Contest. She’s also won or finaled is several other contests over the years.
An incurable history buff, Betty can roam for hours through historical sites and museums. She often loses track of time while researching on the internet. The story of a woman who actually went on a cattle drive disguised as a man inspired Love’s Twisting Trail. Plus, Betty can tell you more interesting tidbits about the past than you might want to know. While answering her grandchildren’s questions on a family vacation, she was mistaken for the tour guide at historical Old Town in Cody, Wyoming.
She’s enjoyed writing since childhood. If friends or relatives would sit still long enough, she’d hand them something she’d written. She still has the notebooks of handwritten stories. Her love for writing has taken several detours along the way—marriage, children, grandchildren, even great grands. Wonderful detours she wouldn’t trade for anything.
When not living in her make-believe nineteenth century world, Betty enjoys time with family. Especially family RV trips with her three adult children, grandchildren or great grands. She and her husband share their Texas home with a spoiled Chihuahua who is sure they’re making the payments on her house.
