In this season of thanksgiving, I want to thank Kathy Cretsinger and the editors with Mantle Rock Publishing for their hard work as they helped make the manuscript for Meadow Song ready for publication. November 20, 2019, marked the anniversary of the release of Meadow Song, my first published novel. I’m also thankful that Kathy has accepted another novel for release in 2021. I also thank Jim Hart for his work as my agent.
Becoming a published author is a humbling experience. I have learned how much I don’t know and how much more I need to learn. The publishing industry changes each year, and the Christian fiction market is very competitive. I am humbled by the faith and dependence on God expressed and demonstrated by other writers. I am humbled by the knowledge and writing skill demonstrated by my fellow authors of Christian romance fiction.
The encouragement from members of the Christian writing community keeps me writing and doing my best. I’m thankful for the blog posts, web pages, and webinars presented by authors, editors, agents, and other industry professionals. And for the fun posts, memes, and quotes that add humor and pathos to my days. Laughter and tears can be cleansing.
I’m also thankful for my readers. Your words and notes of encouragement have been a blessing. One reader passed the message through a friend that Meadow Song helped her through a difficult time. Another reader wrote that she was glad to see God in my novel. Thank you for the reviews posted on Amazon, and for your comments posted on Facebook.
God has privileged me with the opportunity to touch lives through the written word. As I told a friend who questioned the value of reading fiction, a work of Christian fiction should convey truth as much as a work of nonfiction. My purpose is to honor God through my words, to encourage believers in Christ in their walk with Him, and to help others to find Him. I believe Psalm 19:14 applies to the written word as well as to thoughts and speech.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”
Let’s celebrate this Thanksgiving with thankfulness to God. Wishing you a blessed day and season.
Psalm 95:1,2,6,7 NKJV
“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,
Let us shout joyfully to Him with Psalms.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture,
And the sheep of His hand.”
He is worthy!
