In my desire to stretch myself this year, I have already tried a few new things.
I signed on with a CelebrateLit multi-author giveaway. How did it go? Well, I gained over 50 new followers on Facebook, and around 30 on my newsletter.
I decided to finally bite the bullet and do a newsletter. So far, I’m waiting for some actual news to send out, but it’s got to start somewhere, and the CelebrateLit event was the perfect time. (I’m hoping to have some great news soon!)
I signed up for Twitter, something I NEVER thought I would do. So, what made me take that leap? A little event called #FaithPitch. What is it? It’s a day, three times a year, where authors are encouraged to “pitch” their completed manuscript to various editors, publishers, and agents who are trolling that hashtag. If they like your pitch, you follow their submission guidelines and see if anything comes from it. For the record, I got three hearts! Maybe it was worth it?
And my last new experience so far was probably the most fun yet. I did an online chat with a book club over in Texas, two states away,
and spoke with the girls there about what they thought about my book, which they had chosen for their February read. It was so much fun, I’m hoping to encourage other book clubs to choose one, too, just so I can do it again. It was uplifting and encouraging to me, too, because they loved the story, and gave me several reactions and exclamations of joy when they found out I had another book out and a third releasing later this year. Just what an author needs.
Later this month, I’ll continue on with my new experiences as I attend a conference for the first time. I’m thrilled and excited and very much looking forward to it.
As an author (or a reader), do new experiences make you pause and wonder if you should do them or not? So far, all of mine have been great. I hope that encourages you to try a few as well. What’s one you’ve been thinking about and haven’t attempted yet?
Amy R Anguish, author of An Unexpected Legacy and Faith & Hope, grew up a preacher’s kid, and in spite of having lived in seven different states that are all south of the Mason Dixon line, she is not a football fan. Currently, she resides in Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and son, and usually a bossy cat or two. Amy has an English degree from Freed-Hardeman University that she intends to use to glorify God, and she wants her stories to show that while Christians face real struggles, it can still work out for good.
Check out her new book, Faith & Hope, available now.
Her new book, Saving Grace, releases September 2020.

So glad you stepped out in faith, Amy. I’m doing the same but on the marketing side. I have a course in Facebook/Instagram ads to go through this week. Here’s to following God wherever He leads.
