Captain Alice Packard and her female crew succeed in returning as far as England in the Vera B, where they learn their ship has been written off as lost and will be destroyed. The crew separates to look for long-lost family members or employment while Alice and a handful of others wonder how they will get back to the States.

A wedding in Scotland among crew members calls them north, and soon they’re involved in a fiendish plot at Dunbar Castle, where Sarah Fiske, the earl’s wife, is refused entrance. Though happy to see their friends Fiona Campbell and Tommy Mercer wed, the crew is shocked when they see the ship the couple sailed on in dire trouble during a storm on the North Sea. With secrets revealed adding to the tension, the crew must rely on their faith and skill to help the Resolute’s sailors and navigate their way to safety.
